e Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Family Viera Tomanova stated on Slovak Television on Sunday that pension asset management companies (DSS) and not her ministry came up with a proposal to reduce the percentage of contributions to the second pension saving pillar. She said she never proposed the reduction and never said she is going to reduce it. Christian-Democratic (KDH) deputy Daniel Lipsic said that the ministry should stop making people uncertain and finally say whether it agrees or disagreed with a cut of contributions to the second capitalization pillar.
The Association of Pension Fund Management Companies (ADSS) rushed to rebuff the information that they proposed a cut of funds to savers' private accounts. ADSS underscored in its stance that proposals pertaining to adjustment of contributions in the second pillar are exclusively the initiative of the Cabinet. It said it has not supported and will not support any proposal that would harm savers' interests and have a negative impact on the stability of the old-age pension saving system.
